Good morning church family:

Yes, COVID-19 virus is our reality, and we ought to be responsibly concern but let us not operate in worry nor fear.   Our Heavenly Father allowed this crisis, and we need to respond to our “Father” with a listening ear.   Hear what He has to say to us as our attention should be spiritually connected to our Father’s voice and guidance.   No need to worry when God is in control and assures us that He will take care of us.  Therefore, it is still a beautiful and exciting day to be alive, why, because God is allowing us to see His signs as he alert us that Jesus is coming to take us home for our eternal time with Him.   Talk about good news!

Even so, we are going to continue operating our Gethsemane Garden in every way that we can.   I am so grateful that our awesome team of Elders did an amazing job conducting prayer meetings by conference call on Wednesday night.   You know there were a few glitches with some of the phone numbers, but by God’s grace, we were able to work through that as well.   Overall the feedback we received was of good report.   Prayer meetings will continue every Wednesday conducted by district elders.   If you don’t know who your Elder is, please call Elder Bryant, and she will provide you with that information.   The importance of prayer is now paramount to our commitment to show concern not only for ourselves, individual families, but also our neighbors, co-workers, and church family.  Please, sisters and brothers, don’t allow the constant daily coverage of the virus to cause YOU not to be on the frontline of prayer. Remember, God is bigger than any problem we face.  Look at how God orchestrated our timely Sabbath School lessons from the book of Daniel for such a time as this.   Amazing Timeliness!

Our Sabbath School will be live streamed on tomorrow from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.   Adult Class will be presented from the sanctuary. The link for live streaming  is and Real-Time to Cornerstone will be streamed from the church school at
Looking forward to you and your family connecting to enjoy this lesson study together.

Let me also take a moment to talk to you about avoiding a missed opportunity.  Think about it; there is no better time than now for us to encourage those who are “faint at heart” over our world’s dilemma.  May I encourage those of you who can to order some tracks and share them, perhaps even by mail.

Now, for South Atlantic Conference updates, there are a few changes as a result of the virus.  They are as follows:

  • The General Conference session has been canceled.
  • South Atlantic Conference Office is closed until April 6th.   Week by week planning will occur after April 6th.
  • All South Atlantic Conference church schools are closed until April 6th. However, this could change, so we will keep you informed.
  • As of today, no decision has been made about Camp Meeting.
  • Oakwood University Alumni weekend has been canceled.
  • A pastor’s update from our conference will continue to be sent to you by email.

Church family, my wife, and I sincerely miss you and anxiously await our return to worship together.  We already know it is going to be a high day! In the meantime, please take the time to help us call our sick, shut-in, and seniors.

May God bless you and all that is yours!

Pastor Larry & Carol Johnson
